The vision for my work presents issues of ancestry, race, injustice, inequality and brutality. I have visited the plantations for the South and the slave castles of Africa. In my paintings I hope to make a connection between the people who sat on the slave cottage steps of the plantation with their origins in Africa, and somewhere, how I fit into the diaspora. Not as an historian, but as a soul, I want to find the truth of my being. I hope to express my impressions, emotions, senses, and implications. It is the goal that moves me forward, while realizing that it is the journey where one finds resolution. My work is about what I saw and felt in Africa, searching for meaning and sense of where I come from, what life has taught me, and why the injustice of racism continue.
